Fall Nails

Speaking of MAC, they have released their Fall '10 nail polish collection, and I have fell in love with one particular color...Earthly Harmony. Not only is it right on trend with the dark, monotone nail colors this season...its fucking sexy! They were actually sold out at the MAC I usually go to, and I was mad disappointed. This shade would look dope against those cashmere sweaters and 70s chic wardrobe for the Fall. Get yours before they run out!

Lace Panties

I was inspired by the lace nails as seen on the spring runway at Reem Acra and, most recently, the Fall 2010 runway at Tracy Reese. Here's how to give yourself fashionable fingertips in a matter of minutes!

Supplies you will need: Top coat (Sally Hansen), scissors, toothpick, and black lace! The top coat is designed to dry hard and protect your nails from scratches and chips. To ensure the lace adheres to the nails, make sure you use the top coat instead of clear polish.

Step 1: Measure and trim the lace to fit each finger nail.

Step 2: Polish a single layer of top coat.

Step 3: Apply the trimmed lace on top of the wet polish.

Step 4: Firmly press the outer corners of the lace with a toothpick.

Step 5: Let the polish and lace dry for a few minutes.

Step 6: Finish with two more applications of top coat. You're all set.

To complete the look, I styled the uber-fun nails with a Ralph Lauren lace top with wing details and a reconstructed vintage lace skirt.

Seeing in 3D

Nail polish has become somewhat trendy...meaning what was in last summer, may not be in this summer. I love color, and I change my nail color as much as I change my mind about men. This fall I want to change it up, and do more dark colors & metals. I was visiting my favorite nail shop in Chicago, Fantasy Nails, and found the dopest silverish hologram color by China Glaze called Lets do it in 3D. It has a futuristic, fashion foward look to it, and will be one of my colors rocked for the fall.

Nailed it down!

I remember rocking 4-5 inch nails back in high school. See my cousin did nails, so I had a crazy hook up. I would have the wildest colors that I had my boyfriend pick out. Electric blue, purple, black, the list goes on. My freshman year algebra teacher told me that long nails were inapproapiate for someone that is 14. So I cut them down, and eventually stopped wearing them Sophmore year. I picked up the habit again last year. Hey! I had a nice paying job, so I could afford to. Now my signature color is pink, I have an overlay, and the colors are wackier! Thanks to Kid Sister, not only the ghetto girls will be rocking the permanent trend. Here are my top two nail spots that have the cleanest and safest facilities, you don't want green fungus on ur tens!

-Maxim Nails, 3469 S. King Dr. Chicago, Il 312-791-0066

This is located in Bronzeville, and its one of the most affordable shops. The staff is very straight forward, and fast. Ignore the street hustlers outside, unless u want a pack of socks, or bootleg cds. Just bring ur own OPI polish, their polish is cheap.

-Fantasy Nails, 45 E. Chicago, Chicago, Il 312-664-0012

This shop is located by Water Towers and a Starbucks! So u can get a mani, pedi and shop. This salon is my favorite, they only use the best polish, and the staff is mad patient. So patient that u might fall to sleep while getting ur acrylic brushed on. One of the technicians is gangsta, and does not play when it comes to her money. U might find celebs at this salon, and men getting pedis.
